Rainscreen Cladding, Window Pods & Column Casings
This was a highly visible venture, in terms of the location and appearance of the building, and its associations; it having been a project developed in the shadow of Manchester United’s mighty Old Trafford stadium on behalf of team legends, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.
The main aluminium fascia cladding was provided by Astley Facades. JWD was brought in to deal with the many complicated specials that the architecture required. The most prominent of these is the ‘zig-zag’ stripe, which starts by the reception area then sweeps left and right before first climbing diagonally to roof level, where it seamlessly morphs into a soffit-fascia system, and then descending vertically to the ground at the rear. This feature is then mirrored on the opposite side of the building. Also included were a girder-line feature at first floor level, window pods/reveals, and tall, rounded aluminium column casings on the rear of the building, where it overlooks the Bridgewater Canal.
