Menai Science Park, Angelsey

Perforated Screening, Bespoke Capping and Rainwater Pipes

Located in Angelsey, Menai Science Park (also known as ‘M-SParc’) is part of Bangor University and is the first dedicated science park to be built in Wales. The facility provides over 5,000 square meters of dedicated space for businesses of all sizes and other specialist organisations to use, and features offices, a state-of-the-art laboratory and workshop areas for up to 700 people.

On this prestigious new build development, JWD were chosen to supply and install a range of products including 160m2 of 2mm aluminium riser rain screen to the internal courtyards. This was perforated with 6.3mm diameter holes generating 29% free open air and was installed using concealed fixings for aesthetic purposes. JWD’s perforated aluminium screening is light and adaptable. Bespoke manufactured, it can be fabricated to fit a variety of needs, such as covering unsightly areas of buildings or creating ‘boxes’ to fit around rooftop plant. In addition, because it is effectively an open mesh, perforated screening is especially useful where air circulation is a priority.

Elsewhere on this project JWD supplied and installed over 200m of bespoke aluminium parapet capping along with high quality aluminium rainwater pipes.

The completed M-Sparc facility successfully met all of the client’s sustainability targets and also achieved the BREEAM Excellent building standard. In addition, the JWD team played an important role in ensuring that the project was delivered on time and within budget, much to the delight of the University.

JWD’s perforated aluminium screening is light and adaptable, and can be bespoke manufactured to suit a variety of needs.
